Alibhai ready to take on the Killarney locals

Aqil Alibhai has quietly been getting on with karting through 2017 following a high profile overseas campaign last year, but the Ormonde lad has quietly been racking up the results — he bounced back to score a couple of fourths at iDube’s Mini Rok National last week and now he’s ready for this Saturday’s Maxterino National in the Cape this Saturday 29 April.

“I’ve been pushing hard at home ground this year,” Aqil explained. “Last year’s UK and European experience taught me a lot and now I am putting that to use in local karting and we have now also joined Team RKT to give us that extra bit that we still need to be competitive and that was starting to show at iDube.

“Now we turn our attention to Killarney - it’s going to be tough there - especially with so many quick local kids who race there all year, so it would be good to beat them on their home track! “That’s easier said than done, but I can’t wait!
