Zwartkops clean sweep for Rademeyer

Blaine Rademeyer enjoyed a perfect start to his 2017 Northern Regions high school Junior Max karting championship year, when he raced to a clean sweep of three wins out of three starts at Zwartkops on Saturday. Although he had to fight for the first win, the rest of the weekend was straightforward as Rademeyer led the way through the second and third races.

“That was almost the perfect raceday,” Blaine smiled. “We missed out on pole by four-hundredths of a second, but from there I never really looked back — three wins and fastest lap of the day - I’ll take that! “The first race was tough though — I had a good scrap with Jordan North and Cameron Diaz and Cameron really made me work but I pipped her in the end.

“Race 2 was great — I took a lights to flag win, but Jordan was really close all the way and then race 3 was a little easier - I started second and took the lead, but two karts tangled behind me and that gave me a decent gap, which I worked hard to maintain. “Special thanks to Ricky Perdigao, my granndad and the team for giving me such a good kart, it was great to reward them with an overall win!”

There’s a short break for the Northern Regions karters before the second round at Vereeniging on 4 March, with the national following at the Vaal circuit on Monday 20 March.
