Killarney Polo focus after TT blow

Ballito race driver Daniel Duminy heads to Killarney’s second round Engen Volkswagen Cup looking for a good result following a challenging first round, but perhaps even more so after news of the cancellation of the Audi Sport TT Cup in Europe earlier in the week. Duminy, who had signed up to race the European series alongside his local Polo commitments, was devastated by the news, but he will now concentrate on his local success while refocussing his offshore plans.

“I head to Killarney double-determined to produce a great result in Polo Cup,” Daniel explained. “We were a little unlucky to become victim to a bit of early race bumping and we had to fix a puncture in the first race at Kyalami, but we had a pretty good second race and I am really looking forward to build on that at Killarney. “I've been working with Vic Maharaj and the VMR team to fine-tune the SMD Polo and I’d say we are ready.”

Reflecting on the sad news of the TT Cup being cancelled, Daniel was positive: “Of course that was a massive blow — I have worked so hard over the past months to prepare so it’s really hard to accept, but I will now race the Rotax European Karting Trophy with Peter Kalman’s OTK team overseas and until then, its flat out Polo Cup. “Bring on Killarney!”
