Six races, two podiums for Daniel
Ballito lad Daniel Duminy thoroughly enjoyed a busy weekend’s racing at the sixth round of the Northern Regions Karting Championship at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway on Saturday, to start what can only be described as a truly hectic month of racing. Duminy celebrated his debut with a second overall in the DD2 class, while scoring solidly en route to third in Senior Max.
“Today was good,” Daniel admitted. “I made my debut against SA’s best in DD2 where I found myself challenging Mr DD2, Brad Liebenberg and I loved every bit of it on my way to pulling off second for the day. “I’m not that unhappy at all about that — my pace was good so I’m most satisfied!
“We qualified in Senior Max, but I was run wide off the track and had to fight back from 8th so I ended 5th in race, but managed to pull off a third for the day to extended my championship lead “I would like to thank my team — RKT and Ricky Perdigao for all this work and I’d like to dedicate this race weekend to my grandma — this one was for you gran — love you and keep fighting.”
Daniel now heads to Zwartkops for Engen VW Cup main circuit action in his SMD Pepper Racing Polo this coming weekend before returning to the Pretoria circuit’s kart track a week later for round 6 of the NR regionals Saturday and the African Open on Sunday, where he has a chance to race into the Rotax Max World Karting Finals in October.
