Lupini keen to maintain Kyalami mojo

Sixteen-year old Giordano Lupini is relishing his return to Kyalami for his first Engen Volkswagen Cup race at the iconic Johannesburg racetrack Saturday 22 April. The Franschhoek Bridge House Grade 11 scholar won on his first Kyalami outing last year and he will also be looking to deliver on his impressive debut Polo performance at Killarney in Cape Town last month.

“I am really excited to race on this world class track once again,” Giordano admitted. “I’ve driven and won at Kyalami before so I know what to expect and I’m hoping for more good results. “I’ll also be looking to improve on my pace from round 1 of the Polo Cup and hoping to have a bit more luck in the races.”

Lupini celebrated 90 years of his family racing over four generations with a win in the 111 Saloon race last year and was the leading rookie following a fine run well inside the top-ten in that opening Polo race, when he suffered a gearbox failure. “ Now I need to reward Iain, Shane and the Pepper Racing team’s hard work with a proper result and where better to do just that — see you at Kyalami!”
