Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Off Road Race team riders Brett Swanepoel and Henco Botha both overcame the odds to score a fourth place apiece in their respective classes at the third round of the South African Enduro series in Robertson in the Western Cape over the weekend. Swanepoel fought back from a difficult start position while Botha continued with his consistent climb in form on what both drivers admitted was the best organized and best marked enduro route in years.

“I am so happy to be on the championship board at last,” Salt Rock KZN E2 Open Class rider Brett Swanepoel, who missed the first round to injury and retired from the second race of the year admitted. “Not scoring in those races also saw my seeding go to pot and I had to start each of the five laps this weekend in 11th and fight back through the dust, so fourth is a brilliant result all considered. “I am also really enjoying riding the 2-stroke and my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna ran like a dream, so this is a most satisfying result!”

“That was another very good race,” E1 200 class rider Henco Botha from Matatiele KZN explained. “I really enjoyed the track — it was rocky and it got tougher as the race progressed, so it was hard on the arms as the race went on, but my Husqvarna performed perfectly all weekend as usual. “I’m really stoked with fourth — I have now had a third, a fourth and a fifth position in the three races so far and the championship is super close. “Three different riders have also won the three races in the class so far and there have been a few DNFs too — I think I’m now third, which is brilliant!” 

“We are really happy with our Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Off Road team’s performance in the Cape,” Husqvarna Motorcycles SA Brand Manager Fred Fensham concluded. “We are delighted to have Brett back in action and Henco is improving dramatically race by race. “Also a pat on the back to the organizers for what has to be the best marked and best prepared enduro track we have had the privilege to race on in the recent past.”
