Brett, Henco ready to do KZN proud

Husqvarna South Africa’s Pepson Plastics Off Road Team heads to Harding on the Kwa-Zulu Natal South Coast for the fifth round of the  MSA Liquorland South African National Enduro Championships with both of its riders looking for top results in what is effectively their home race this weekend.

Henco Botha from Matatiele, which lies to the east, inland of Harding is raring to get back into E1 class action following his retirement last time out. “Unfortunately I was forced to stop when the side effects of tick bite fever I was suffering became too risky to continue,” Henco admitted.

“That was a hard pill to swallow, but I am back in the saddle and ready to go and I’m really looking forward to race in Harding. “Quite a few of my rivals are injured, so let’s see if we can make up for a bit of lost ground — this is pretty much a home round for me so I’m looking forward to a bit of extra support from the locals and of course to do them proud!”

Teammate Brett Swanepoel hails from Salt Rock, to the north and up the coast from Harding and he’s looking forward to racing on familiar ground following a brilliant run in the Red Bull Romaniacs extreme enduro in Romania two weeks back, where he rode his Pepson Plastics Husqvarna home to a brilliant seventh overall.

“We had a difficult start to our South African enduro championship campaign this year,” Bret explained. “I missed the first two races, so we started on the back foot, but we have had a good run so far and now some of the other guys are sitting this one out to injury, so I’m looking forward to give it my best this weekend to make up a little lost ground. “And I’m keen to do KZN proud at home too.”

“Our Pepson Plastics Husqvarna boys are ready to shine at their home enduro,” Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa brand manager Fred Fensham promised. “Harding is both riders’ home race and I am sure they want to do their home fans proud, so we are really looking forward to a truly festive weekend at what promises to be a memorable enduro.”
