North on form in Euro OK J karting opener
Johannesburg kart racer Jordan North enjoyed a positive first overseas karting foray of the year with 11th in the European OK J Finals at the South Garda circuit in Northern Italy over the weekend.
“We had a good weekend,” Jordan confirmed. “I’m very happy — we were in the top 5 right through practice and I learned a lot about qualifying and defending. “In one of the heats I was taken out so hard from behind that it broke the rear bumper, so we started the pre-final 26th and finished 19th.
“The final was pretty good — I moved up eight places, finished 11th overall despite making my only real mistake the whole weekend when I left the door open and let 3 guys past, so we should have finished 8th, but it’s been a big learning curve and I’m very happy and I feel very comforted going into the CIK-FIA Academy first round in Genk, Belgium in May.”
