Busy karting season ahead for Coetzee
Double-Western Province Junior Max karting champion Jason Coetzee can’t wait to get what promises to be a super-busy karting season under way at Killarney’s 2018 Western Province championship opener Saturday 10 February. Coetzee will race on both the Senior Max and DD2 SA and WP championships, while also racing in the European Rotax Max series and other selected races, but he is focussed on a good start at home this weekend.
“We have a busy year ahead,” Jason admitted. “We have a new team for 2018 — we will be backed by Ed Murray Racing with Umpie Swart running me and Cleopas Mbawa as my mechanic. “I will stay on a Kosmic chassis in Senior Max but I will drive a CRG in DD2 against Umpie — there will be no team orders between us but it’s going to be very competitive this year with several very good drivers in the top class.
“I am also pumped that we will race in the European Max championship as well, but it’s going to be a very full year - I also write Grade 11 this year and I need the best marks. “Still, I can’t wait — I'm very excited for the upcoming season — it is definitely going to be a big one — bring it on!”
