Junior hero Els just wants to show pace

Jayden Els may have endured a tough day at the races on his step up to the bigger Junior Max class in the opening round Northern Regions karting championship season opener and then he also struggled a little at the national there two weeks ago, but the world Mini Max karting champion is keen to show his pace in Saturday’s second round of the regional series at Vereeniging's Laserfische Raceway Saturday 1 April.

“The last two meetings were tough - I was taken out twice  at the regional and we had too much grip at the national, but I was,” South Africa's Junior Motor Sportsman of the Year Jayden explained. “So this weekend the plan is to keep out of trouble and find our way forward on pace and there there are a few quick guys out there with plenty experience in the bigger kart, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!”

Reigning Rotax Mini Max karting world champion Els, who took the big step up to Junior Max at the beginning of the year however showed his true form in a club meeting earlier in the year when he won on his Junior debut. “I want more of that,” Jayden concluded. “We have won already in this class and I want to do so again!”
