Els takes Junior Max at Zwartkops

Jayden Els was delighted to come out on top of a titanic Northern Regions Rotax Junior Max karting duel at Zwartkops on Saturday, when the former world Mini Max champion overcame the odds to win the final race to take his King Price CRG to overall honours for the day.

“We had good pace and I qualified on pole position,” Boksburg racer Jayden reported. “Race one was a close battle with a bit of bumping and barging with Daniele Patrizi in the last lap, which cost us both a position, but I still managed to bring it home to come in fourth. “I managed to fight to the front in race 3, but my exhaust spring broke after I’d passed Aqil Alibhai for the lead and that caused the kart to lose a bit of power and I fell back to fifth but last lap action again between Aqil and Kwanda Mokoena saw us up to third.

The final was my most difficult race — I took the lead in turn 2 and stayed in front for twenty laps with Daniele keeping me honest all the way, but I kept it together and won the race to take the overall win for the day! “Hopefully now our streak of bad luck has finally come to an end — special thanks to my dad and my team and to our sponsors King Price — now for round 4 and the African Open at the end of June and the opportunity to win a ticket back to the Rotax Max Grand Finals!”
