Van der Watt chasing 12 from 12

Cape Town race driver Julian van der Watt is making signifiant waves in the Investchem South African National Formula 1600 Championship. Van der Watt remains unbeaten in the series with ten wins out of ten starts since the new wings and slicks single seater class raced for the first time earlier this year and he is hell bent on keeping his winning streak alive.

“I am over the moon with my season so far,” Julian admitted. “We have won every race we have started this year and I intend to keep it that way. “Of course it’s not that easy because we also need 100% reliability and a bit of luck to keep such a long streak going, never mind that I have a bunch of guys whose life ambition, is to beat me and then the bigger the run gets, the steeper the odds against it continues, but I am enjoying riding the wave and I will keep on it as long as I can!

“I also enjoy Zwartkops - it’s a lot of my rivals’ home track so it’s even better to beat them at home, so we are looking forward to a great weekend with a fantastic team in what is proving to be a really good series - thanks in advance to our guys who have given me a perfect car this year.”
