Visser takes three 2018 Mini kart titles

Saturday was a big day for Durbanville kid kart racer Kyle Visser, who added both the Western Province under-13 Mini Max and Mini Rok championships to his South African Mini Max title at Killarney on Saturday, while he and brother Charl spent the day on final preparations before representing South Africa in the Rotax Max World Finals in Brazil at the end of the month.

It was the perfect end to an ideal SA karting season for Kyle, who won Mini Max while cruising home fifth in Mini Rok to clinch both WP titles. “Today was brilliant,” Kyle beamed. “I had a lot of fun — we never worried too much about Mini Rok because that one was pretty much in the bag, but decided to rather concentrate on Mini Max, where we ran the same chassis we have to use in the World Finals in Brazil for the first time. “That’s very important — we race a different kart here and I we wanted to at least arrive knowing the new one better, so now we know what to expect when we get there — I’d say we are ready.”

Older brother Charl likewise spent the day preparing for the Junior Max World Final and took a first race win. “We were not too concerned about the WP Junior title because we already had the SA title in the bag and that’s the one that counts, so we spent the day as more as a final dress rehearsal for Brazil. “I’m happy with our preparations and we can't wait to go now!

"Kyle and me want to thank our whole team for all the efforts to get us here — it's been a record season for us all-round and everyone who has contributed knows the part they have played. "Thanks all of you — now we have some karting business to take care of in Brazil — bring it on!'
