Historic Zandvoort thrills for Pete, Paige

Lindenberg Racing enjoyed an incredible weekend of international historic racing at Zandvoort in Holland over the weekend. Competing in the third round of the four-part Youngtimer Touring Car International Challenge Series, Paige Lindenberg  improved her pace throughout the weekend to wind up fourth in the Legends class, while dad Peter overcame a race 1 fuel pump failure to deliver a fine comeback fifth in Legends.

Paige enjoyed a positive weekend, gently urging her giant Legends of the 9-Hour Ford Fairlane to quicker laps as she progressed. “What an incredible experience racing in Europe for the first time," Paige admitted, “We were thrown into the deep end as we had no practice at all on a track I had never seen, but I qualified 39th out of 55 starters and after a chaotic first few laps, I found a couple of seconds a lap as the race progressed to climb to 33rd. “I found more pace on Saturday and had another great race to climb from 33rd to 28th overall to clinch fourth in Legends after Sunday’s final.”

“The first day was chilly and difficult, but it came good from there,” Pete explained. “We had no time to get to know the track before qualifying and then we lost the fuel pump on my Legends of the 9-Hour Shelby Mustang after 4 laps and that was it for Friday’s first race. “We fixed the pump and I started 46th on Saturday and also started to get a grip on the track and fought like hell to make my way up to 15th on Saturday and then 14th on Sunday to end up fifth in Legends behind Paige."

“To be honest, I'm floating on Cloud Nine,” Paige concluded. “The hospitality and people here have been just incredible and we enjoyed a most amazing time at Zandvoort with the best crew and a true family affair with dad, me and the du Toit brothers Jono and Mark all racing together in Holland and — I was even awarded a trophy for having the most fun on track and the biggest smile this weekend!”

The Lindenbergs now head to England for the final of the 4-race African-European Youngtimer Touring Car International Challenge Series at Brands Hatch in June.
