Peter leaves Zwartkops leading title race

Team boss Peter Lindenberg was the only Lindenberg Racing entry in Saturday’s Zwartkops SKF Legends of the 9 Hour Little Giants historic saloon car races, where he enjoyed a great day’s racing to come away in the championship lead after a true battle of the legends.

Lindenberg was initially second in the opening race, before becoming immersed in a wonderful dice with Ben Morgenrood’s Mustang, Hennie Groenewald’s Chevy, Jeffrey Kruger’s Barracuda and Jonathan du Toit’s ’57 Chev to end up third behind Morgenrood and Groenewald with all of half a second separating the three. The second race saw a similar dice as Pete held Ben Morgenrood off to win the battle of the Mustangs as he chased Jeffrey Kruger, Hennie Groenewald and Mark du Toit’s Little Chevy home in fourth.

“What a wonderful day’s racing,” Peter concluded. “That first race was awesome — just half a second split three of us at the flag and I had a wonderful spat to beat Ben to be the best of the Mustangs in the second heat. “My Shelby Mustang ran like a train as always and I understand that gives us the championship lead, so we go home pretty chuffed!

“Special thanks as always to Lindenberg Racing and all our sponsors —  Shelby South Africa, Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg, Sabat Batteries, Road to Race, Two Can Engineering, Herschell Specialised Lubricants, aQuellé, First Race and GES — we trust we are doing you all proud!”
