Mostert keen to keep progressing
Six-year old Luan Mostert was delighted to score his first karting podium last time out, but now the lightie wants more and he’s setting his sights on his first karting victory at Saturday’s third round Western Province Championship kart races at Killarney.
The scholar showed great mettle as he overcame a few challenges through the day after his race engine died in morning warm-up and would not start again, so qualifying did not go as well as expected as he struggled with speed, but Luan still qualified fourth.
“I am very happy to have come third last race,” Bastion Primary Grade 1 lad Luan conceded. “But now I want my first win and the sooner the better! “I have a great team around me with my dad Andre and mom Bianca, my grandfather Franco Donadio, uncle Boetie and uncle Craig, my trainer Luke Herring and our advisor Kito Perdigao so I am sure we can keep on improving every race.
“I am also looking forward to racing against my friends Joshua Smit, Ethan Deacon, Eric Norman, Reese Koorzen and Yusuf Parker — I love race days and I just can’t wait for Saturday!”
