Lindenberg Racing shines at Zwartkops

Lindenberg Racing enjoyed a positive day of racing at the Historic Tour meeting at Zwartkops on Saturday, with the team scoring several podium positions on the day. Djurk Venter brought home a popular race 1 win en route to second overall in Class G of the Marlboro Crane Hire Pre’-80 Historic Saloons race, while team boss Peter Lindenberg powered his Shelby Mustang to an entertaining couple of seconds and second overall in the SKF Pre 66 Legends Saloons and Paige Lindenberg drove her monster Ford Fairlane to a third Pre-’80 Class D.

Venter was delighted with his maiden win in the Lindenberg Racing Escort: “Today was special,” Djurk beamed. “It’s always great to win — especially to reward the whole team for all its hard work at this and every other race, through thick and thin! “The second race was a bit more of a challenge — I ended up fifth but that was good enough for second overall on the day and that’s a trophy I will long cherish!”

One man who is no stranger to the trophies, Peter Lindenberg relished in his race to that silver Pre-’68 gong. “What a day,” Pete beamed. “Racing wheel-to-wheel against my old mate Ben Morgenrood and with youngsters Jono du Toit and Jeff Kruger snapping at our heels was great fun. “I missed out to Ben by fractions of a second each time, but I think the crowd was happy which is most important and I was beaten by another old dagga boy with a Mustang. So all is well in Pretoria!”

Peter’s diminutive daughter Paige Lindenberg meanwhile enjoyed her best Zwartkops outing yet in her giant Fairlane. “I did my best times ever at Zwartkops today and ended third and 8th in the races to take fourth overall,” Paige explained. “Not quite the finish I had hoped for and we have some development to do on the handling with this pace, but I’m so excited to see what this season has in store for us! “Once again thank you to my amazing team, family, friends and most importantly, our sponsors — this kind of progress wouldn’t be possible without all of you.”

It’s a complete change of scenery for Lindenberg Racing next as it heads to the Garden Route for the Knysna Hill Climb early in May.
