Strong WP win sets Boyd up for World Finals

Camps Bay’s 2017 South African Junior Max kart champion Sebastian Boyd took no prisoners as he raced to a dominant three-heat victory to wrap up the overall win for the day to secure second in that Westend Province high school championship at the season finale at Killarney on Saturday. Boyd is now preparing to represent South Africa and the Rotax Junior Max World Finals in Portugal next month.

“Saturday was perfect!” Sebastian smiled. “It was our first time out on Boyd Boss Freight Racing’s new Praga chassis — I put it on pole and drove to three easy wins. “It’s a pity that WP champion Jason Coetzee did not race, but well done to him on the title — it’s been a good season in the Cape and we had some great races with Jason and Charl Visser through the year.

“Now we have to focus on the World Finals — we had a very good run to fourth in the Junior Rok International Finals a few weeks ago so we are now ready to go and represent South Africa to the best of my ability at Portimao. “There are many people who have made this possible, not least of all my dad and my school, SACS College, which has made it possible for me to both race and still write my Grade 8 exams. “Let’s do this!”
