Lee Thompson Racing heads to East London’s fourth round national championship Extreme Festival races keen for a strong set of results following a few difficult rounds of late. Charl Smalberger is keen on two good results in Sasol GTC2, while young Delon Thompson is after more good progress after a stirring run last time out in Engen Polo Cup, where Simon Need is out to score two good finishes after a trying season so far in his Masters class campaign.

Charl Smalberger has been consistently on the pace in his Sabertek LTR Golf GTI, but he has also had his fair share of bad luck. “We lie fifth in the GTC2 championship race,” Charl pointed out. “Sure, it could have been better but we've had a few challenges along the way. “East London is another story — it’s a very fast track with plenty slipstreaming down the straight and a few cool twists down the back — Lee and the guys will prepare a great car as always, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend at a track I love — bring it on! “

Delon Thompson has been a revelation in his rookie Engen Polo Cup season aboard his A&R LTR Polo and he will be looking to repeating his Super Pole performance and strong points positions again at the Border. “Zwartkops was a great weekend and hopefully East London will be more of the same,” Delon explained. “I was very happy with my first podium and now I hope to carry this momentum into East London — Lee and the team have been hard at it and we are ready — I can't wait!”

Simon Need is keen to score well in both races down in East London “It is time to shake my stop-one-finish-one spell,” Photonics LTR Polo pilot Simon promised. “The team has made a great effort to improve the car and we had a good run in the second race last time out — now to do that twice in East London, where I need to repay the lads for all the hard work."
