Kart lass Napier happy to take on the boys

Roodepoort lass Tiffany Napier heads to Vereeniging with only one thing in mind this weekend and that’s to move that step up to the top of the Junior Max podium at the second round of the Northern Regions karting championship on Saturday. The British International Grade 10 student ended second at the Zwartkops season opener and now she’s determined to go one better.

“We go back to Vereeniging to make amends for a really tough national twp weeks ago but then we had a good last last regional,” Tiffany admitted. “We have however worked really hard on my kart and the set-up and I have quite an affinity wth Vereeniging, so let’s hope I can pull it off. ”It’s never easy, but I’d like to beat the boys and my fellow karting girl Cameron Das this weekend.”

“People tend to think that racing is a guy’s sport, but there are quite a few of us ladies doing pretty well these days — Fabienne Lanz has won the past two Senior Max titles and there are several girls — Cameron, Ivana Cetinich, Shannon Jackson and Rachelle du Plessis among them, all of whom are race winners. “My aim is to win a national karting championship though — that would be a first!”
