Snyman adds a regional title too

South African Mini Max karting sensation Troy Snyman ended his 2019 season by adding the Northern Regions title to his South African under-13 championship with a solid drive in Saturday’s Zwartkops finale. Snyman, who came within two corners of taking the world championship in Italy a week ago, enjoyed a duelling day to second with a race 2 win to wrap up the regional title on Saturday.

“The objective this weekend was to take the title home with the least possible drama, following everything that happened in the SA and World finals,” Troy explained. “Ghazi Motlekar was also on top form this weekend and he raced hard to beat me two races to one — we enjoyed a brilliant day on and off track and my second race win and second for the day helped me to clinch the title.

“2019 was an incredible year for us on track and I owe so much to my mentor Wesleigh Orr and uncle Hughie, my folks and everyone else who has contributed to this double title. “Today was also my final race in the primary school classes, so it is good to walk away on top — next year we step up to a much faster full sized kart in Junior Max — I really cannot wait for that!”
