Gauteng's April 1 kart races set to sizzle
It's no joke - the Vereeniging Kart Club’s second-round Northern Regions Karting Championship races will go down this Saturday 1 April Fools day at the Laserfische Raceway. The meeting was postponed from 8 March to allow final preparations to be completed in time for last week's nationals at the circuit and now it's time to return to regional action.
There should be some entertaining racing in the full-sized kart classes, where early NR Senior Max championship leader Cameron O’Connor will face off against Durbanite Daniel Duminy, Oliver Gunner, karting heroine Shannon Jackson, Joshua Dias and Tiago Rebello. Blaine Rademeyer will meanwhile tackle two more incredibly capable karting lasses, Tiffany Napier and Cameron Dias; world Mini Rok champion Jayden Els, Wayland Wyman and Christiaan Van Wyk among others in Junior Max.

The baby under-8 Cadets will see the dominant Luke Hill take on the likes of Wian Boshoff, Anton Lombard, Cyril Jacobs, Ryan Asmaland Tshepang Shisinwana.
The Vereeniging Kart Track is on van Riebeeck Street, Vereeniging next to the Vaal Show Grounds, left off the Boy Louw Street off-ramp heading south on the R59 Vereeniging freeway. Warm-up starts early Saturday followed by qualifying and first races starting late morning; scrumptious refreshments are on sale at the circuit and entrance is free — sounds like proper day’s entertainment.
