Two final race meetings for the price of one

Zwartkops Raceway is set to close off its 2018 race season in double-whammy style with a historic raceday Saturday 3 November, followed a week later by the 10 November Extreme Festival Grand Finale. Best of all is that race fans can buy tickets for both races at a special price in a Zwartkops double Grand Finale bonanza.

The 3 November weekend  will see a full programme as the Historic Tour and Inland Races visit the Pretoria racetrack for those series' season finale to deliver a full programme of racing as a prologue to January's Passion for Speed weekend. Races include International Sports Prototypes and SKF Legends of the 9 Hour, both comprising of the cars that raced that South African classic in the '50s, '60s and ‘70s; along with Little Giants and Historic Saloons, both of which cater for racing saloon cars of yore.

Add classic single seater sprints for Historic Formula Ford and Monoposto racers, Lotus Challenge, INEX Legends and final rounds of the Alfa Romeo and Midvaal Historics, Charlie’s Spar Pursuit Series and Motul Super Saloons, and you have some Guy Fawkes fireworks in a full and varied line-up of the finest classic racing cars in the country. But save that entrance ticket, because it is also valid for the Grand Finale races a week later…

The November 10 Zwartkops weekend highlight is bound to be the G&H Extreme Supercars, where championship leader Charl Arangies takes on Franco Scribante’s magnificent Porsche. But what will Arangies drive? His glorious Aston Martin Vantage GT3, a screaming Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 or even a new to SA BMW Z4 GT3? Time will tell, but those two will not be alone among a grid of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, a KTM or two and a fleet including a wild Alfa Romeo, BMWs and much more.

Just as spectacular, the rolling thunder V8 Supercars return to Zwartkops 10 November and the wild, winged and gumball tyred cars that have kept SA race fans rapt for decades will thrill again as those monster V8 Trans Am Corvettes, Jaguars, Luminas and Falcons set Zwartkops alight when Mackie Adlem fights Franco Matteo and Benjamin Morgenrood off in the title struggle. Bike fans will be well catered for too as the Bridgestone Thunderbikes and Bridgestone Sub-10 Superbikes strut their stuff.

Then there’s the matter of a few top SA National and Northern Regions championships to settle, not least of all the MotorMart Volkswagen Challenge where a solitary point separates overall and class A leaders Stiaan Kriel and Rory Atkinson in the championship race and there are just nine points between Jacques Smith, Deon Holliday Junior and Chris Dale on top of Class B. Should be a cracker!

Almero van Eck has a chance to topple Louis Scholtz for the outObarn Superhatch title, while the big Car Care Clinic 111 Saloons will see the big action up front for the class A title between George Bezuidenhout’s Primera and Wouter Roos' (Golf) and further back too, between Andy Gossman’s Polo and Mark Gregory in Class E. The Hankook SA National Formula Vee title is also up for grabs on 10 November between Jaco Schriks, Gert van den Berg and Lushen Ramchander.

Race fans can catch all that action over two weekends for the price of one special ticket at R150 per adult, R120 for a student and under 12s free for entry on both weekends. Find out more at www.zwartkops.co.za or contact 021 384 2299.
