Boyd cruises to WP title second

Camps Bay kid Sebastian Boyd took no chances as he steered his Boyd Boss Freight Kosmic to a safe third overall to secure second in the highly competitive Western Cape high school Junior Max 125cc karting championship at Killarney on Saturday.

“It was basically impossible to catch Jason Coetzee in the championship and I knew that all I had to do to keep Dario Busi at bay in the championship, was to stick with him, so that’s what I did,” Boyd explained as he took a couple of thirds and a second place to cover race 3 winner Busi’s title charge and clinch second in the title chase.

“Congratulations to Jason on winning the championship, and to Dario for winning his last ever kart race as well as to all my karting friends on a hard but good racing season. “It was a tough year — the national championship is still not confirmed so we must just wait and see what happens there and there is still a chance we can win that,” the SACS Grade 9 scholar concluded.

“But we are now focussed on preparing to race in the World KF kart finals in Bahrain 15-20 November, which is one of the premier karting weekends of the year that we will be racing as part of an SA team and I’m really looking forward to that.”
