Luca wants to win in Vereeniging

Sunward Park Benoni kart star Luca Munaretto can’t wait to get back into racing action at Vereeniging’s Northern Regions kart finals on Saturday following his return from a most competitive Rotax Max Grand Finals campaign in Italy two weeks back. CBC Boksburg Grade 9 scholar Munaretto is excited to put all he learned in the World Finals to practice to bring the trophies home from his home track.

“I had a great Grand Finals while they lasted,” Luca explained. “I was super chuffed with my pole position in the Pre Finals and that second place in the one heat. “Sadly I was knocked off the track by a kart from behind and I was not able to recover to finish in the top 25 after the race was red flagged early, but that’s racing…

“Sure, it was disappointing, but to have been that quick on equal equipment against the best in the world was so gratifying. “I was also so impressed with the reception we had and all the European friends I made, so I’m really looking forward to competing again next year and trying to win that world title.

“Right now we need to concentrate on the Northern Regions Finals this weekend and I can’t wait to get out to Vereeniging to apply so much that we learned in Italy and to set up a strong platform to work off next season. “Bring it on!”

Being Guy Fawkes Day, Saturday is apt for a bit of fireworks on track and with Luca racing the DD2 class among so many drivers chasing for Gauteng championship glory across the board, V-Town cold be a great destination for a bit of karting fun. Find the kart track behind the Vaal Show Grounds off van Riebeeck Street, Vereeniging.
