Father, sons set for Aldo 3-hour

Father-and-son combo of Neil Stephen and his two sons Geoff and Jono, will be going all out for top saloon and Index honours in this weekend’s Aldo Scribante Three Hour endurance race inPort Elizabeth.

The Stephen crew are among a record entry for the meeting and will race together in the PE Three Hour in their highly modified Golf Mk. 1 GTi a car that began life as Geoff Stephen’s road car over a decade ago and since notched up a string of victories in the EP and Border championship victories and it has now become a tradition for four-time saloon car winners  father Neil and sons to enter the 3-hour.

62-year old Neil his problem seems to have forgotten the fact that he’s actually a ‘toppie’. Stephen senior’s Neil’s racing career goes back over 40 years, from karting through Group N where he won the famous Class E Brat Pack, Class D and Class B championships for Opel.

The uncle and cousins of multiple SA Production Car and karting champion Michael however keep on racing for the love of it: “We aren’t here for the glory,” Neil explains. “It’s just an amazing way for a father to spend quality time with his sons.”
