F1 musical tech boss chairs in full swing
Mercedes F1 technical boss Paddy Lowe has left the team ahead of an anticipated move to to Williams. Lowe's move comes at a time when Mercedes is in negotiation with Williams over Valtteri Bottas' mooted shift to Mercedes amid suggestions that part of a deal could see Lowe avoiding a spell of gardening leave to join Williams immediately.
Lowe is expected to take a senior management position in a step up from a pure technical role to actually running a team as he replaces Williams' Pat Symonds, while former Ferrari technical director James Allison is tipped to replace Lowe at Mercedes, once his period of gardening leave is over...
