Rock strike ends Neuville charge

Sebastien Ogier has taken the Monte Carlo Rally lead after Thierry Neuville damaged his suspension on Saturday's final stage after the Hyundai driver had controlled the rally from the outset, when he was forced  stop with rear suspension damage just past its halfway point.

Ogier now starts Sunday's final day with a 47 second advantage over Ott Tanak in an M-Sport Ford one-two, while Toyota seems set  for a podium on its return to the WRC with Jari-Matti Latvala running third after the second Hyundai of Dani Sordo was slowed by steering issues to drop behind Craig Breen in his previous-generation Citroen.

Elfyn Evans won three of Saturday's five stage wins to run sixth in spite of his disastrous Friday with Andreas Mikkelsen in a commanding WRC2 lead in seventh overall.
