Boyd on podium despite dramas

Camps Bay kid Sebastian Boyd (Boyd Boss freight Kosmic) was delighted to be on the Killarney under-15 Junior Max podium on Saturday in spite of a few issues on the day.

Boyd qualified second and went on to end up second in each of the opening two races, setting the fastest lap in the opener to start race 2 from pole position. Then the team made some changes to the set-up of the kart to see him closer to leader Jason Coetzee in the final, but his chain snapped and he was out on lap 3.

“The chain just snapped,” Sebastian rued. “It’s a pity because the kart felt so good in the last race. “Still, I set the fastest lap in the first race and we had a pole position too, and I suppose we were lucky to get away with second overall.

“We have a little work to do now – there’s also a new class coming so it should be a very interesting year ahead – watch this space!”
