Positive Cape meet augurs well for VTown

Cape Town kart racer Sebastian Boyd wrapped up his preparations for the opening round of the SA National Junior Max Karting Championships at Vereeniging on Monday with a strong performance in the second round of the Western Cape high school championship on Saturday.

“We never quite had the pace to take it to Jason Coetzee this weekend — he managed to close my race 1 lead down and pip me at the post in the first race, and I couldn’t do too much in the second and third races, but it was a solid weekend overall and I had a good points haul,” Boyd pointed out. “We need to find that tenth or two to beat him!

“I’m looking forward to the first national this weekend — Junior Max is going to be hugely competitive so it’s a matter of keeping my wits and scoring as best I can each race. “Nationals are all about racking up the most points in every race and that is what we aim to do. “I also enjoy Vereeniging — it’s a fast and technical track so I’m looking forward to a great weekend.”
