Charl, Kyle score big at Vereeniging

Cape Town’s Visser brothers, Charl and Kyle return home on top of the world following a brilliant day’s national karting action at Vereeniging on the Vaal River on Monday. 13-year old SA Maxterino champion Charl enjoyed a brilliant national Junior Max debut to win the day overall, while 2015 WP Cadet champion Kyle took a race win en route to second overall in Maxterino.

Charl may not have won a race on the day, but the Durbanville youngster drove a safe and steady meeting to score a couple of seconds and a third and leave Vereeniging in the high school championship lead, despite it being his debut in the class. “I kept out of trouble today and it paid off,” Charl smiled. “I just kept my cool and did what I had to do.

“The others all won, but they held each other up in the other races, so I am delighted with my win in my first ever Junior Max national. “I really enjoy Vereeniging and I am proud to have gone there and beaten the locals with my friends – we had a Cape Town 1-2-3 with me, Jason Coetzee and Sebastian Boyd.”

Younger brother Kyle bounced back to win the finale and take second for the day in primary school Maxterino after being bumped off in the first heat. “Race 1 was a bit of a disaster – I was bumped off from third with two laps to go and ended up ninth.

“From there I just worked hard and kept out of trouble – I fought back to lead the second race and ended up second, but I set the fastest lap and I was on pole position for the final. “I led that one from flag to flag and set the fastest lap too – that was my first-ever national race win so I am so proud.

“I am second in the championship by two points and we go to Killarney next so I can’t wait because my Zanardi has the speed and that’s my home track.”

“We must thank our dad, our manager Wesleigh Orr and our ace mechanic Zefrey Ngebolan for all their hard work,” Kyle concluded. “They make it possible for us to win – thanks so much guys!”

Charl and Kyle race the Killarney regional next on 8 April before the national there 26 April, but watch this space for a most exciting announcement around Charl Visser soon…
