Mokoena’s positive Junior Max debut
Johannesburg kart racer Kwanda Mokoena enjoyed a positive step up to the ultra competitive Junior Max class at Monday’s Vereeniging national championship season opener. The Northern Regions Junior Rok champion was under no illusions to the task at hand, but he enjoyed what was a steep learning curve.
“Monday was my debut in Junior Max and it was at national level against the top guys in the country,” Kwanda explained. “We rented a motor and chassis and fought hard to finish 10th overall for the weekend — it was a bit of a struggle being thrown into the deep end, but it was fun and we learned so much.
“It was also a priceless weekend we spent together with my family and friends at The Vaal — special thanks to my Squadra Corse Team's Elijah and my mechanic and best friend Miles Thabang Lams, RKT and Ettiene Roos and all those that helped us in my maiden race this weekend. I now know what we have to do and I'm looking forward to finding the speed to race up front.
