Mokoena takes Mini Rok, learns in Junior Max

Paulshof karting kid Kwanda Mokoena enjoyed a day of extremes at the second-round Northern Regions Karting Championship races on Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway on Saturday. Kwanda had a great day in the primary school Mini Rok where he took a couple of wins en route to overall victory, but it was another day of learning in Junior Max.

“We had a difficult weekend in Junior Max, Rivonia Primary Grade 5 learner Kwanda, who turned 13 the day after the races explained. “We started race 2 last because I never finished heat one, but I was happy to come from from last to fifth. “In heat 3, I did my best to go with the front runners from the green light, so I was very happy with fourth that race and sixth overall all considered.

“Mini Rok was good — I told myself that I was going out there to play on the eve of my birthday and I did just that. “It was tight racing, which I loved and I played cat and mouse with Leyton and Jarrod for all three races in a row and I loved every second of it. “Well done to Nickolas Roos on pole and I am happy that no one was injured in that big heat 1 accident.

“Thanks again to my main man Thabs; my family and the karting family — we have been very busy racing and still have a busy month ahead with the Rok Cup this weekend back at Vereeniging and then the nationals in Cape Town. “I can’t wait - we just love to race!”
