Sebastian stars at Killarney

Sebastian Boyd rushed back to Cape Town from his European OKJ karting experience and the Camps Bay lightie certainly showed the benefit of his previous week’s experience when he turned the tables on Jason Coetzee to take Saturday’s overall Western Province Junior Max Karting honours win with two wins to one at Killarney.

“Driving amongst 30 karts in Italy teaches you to deal with whatever happens around you without losing any places — step out of line there and you lose ten places just like that,” Boyd Boss freight Kosmic driver Sebastian explained. “It’s making me a harder, tougher driver and it is paying dividends back home — as Saturday showed.

“I really focussed on my qualifying lap and then when Jason, JP and I were dicing so hard in the first heat, I kept my head, planned my moves and managed to come out on top. “The second race was easier because I made a break and was able to control the gap, although Jason came back strong at the end and the last race was a great dice — Jason won the battle and I won the war.

“Now we just need to keep on chipping away at his Cape championship lead, but the national is next and I need to try make up for a few mistakes last time out in Vereeniging. “  I want to win more than the once I did there and that is going to be good racing with the Jo’burg guys wanting revenge too, but they’re not going to have it easy — bring it on!”
