Phakisa, Knysna set to keep team busy

Lindenberg Racing heads into a busy couple of weeks as it first heads to the Phakisa Freeway for the next round of the Historic Tour, before packing for Knysna and the Jaguar Simola Hill Climb a week later. But the focus remains on the team’s classic car efforts at the Free State raceway this weekend.

The team has three cars racing at Phakisa in the absence of team principal Peter Lindenberg who continues his recuperation from his recent hip surgery, but daughter Paige will be out in her monster class D Ford Fairlane, while Venter couple Kirsten and Djurk will continue their Ford Escort tussle in class G of the classic saloon car racing races.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of the big Fairlane on challenging Welkom circuit,” little Paige admitted. “It’s a big car with plenty power, but it handles quite well even if those twists and turns may challenge the tyres later in the race, so the challenge is to look after the rubber so it’s still strong at the end of the race…”

“Last time around we had a great scrap, but Djurk got the better of me in the end,” Kirsten Venter explained. “This time I have plans for him - and a few of my other rivals - bring it on!” Husband Djurk was not so sure. “That's wishful thinking my love - I prefer to let my actions do the talking!”

Lindenberg Racing will head straight to Knysna from Welkom - the team will confirm its hillclimb plans after the Red Star weekend.
