Stuwie off to Monza after good Kyalami run

South Africa’s Stuart White heads to Monza this weekend 29-30 April intent to put his tough debut in the French Formula 4 Championship two weeks ago behind him. The Bloemfontein 15-year old however heads to Italy off a positive weekend back home at Kyalami, where he enjoyed another two most impressive second places in the SA Investchem Formula 1600 championship.

“My first weekend in the French Formula 4 Academy was a very difficult one,” Stuart explained. “We had good pace in practice and then all of a sudden we lost over a second a lap in qualifying and I dropped from fourth to fourteenth. “Unfortunately the team could not find the problem until after the second race, by then my tyres were shot because of the problem so I struggled again.

“Fortunately we had a very good weekend at Kyalami in the F1600 since then and that’s done a lot to help my confidence after Nogaro — I managed to get into the lead for a bit and finished second twice. “We are going to work hard to find the pace to challenge for the win in F1600 though and I hope to be able to challenge harder to win in East London.

“This weekend we go to Monza — which is cool — I will race on three of the greatest tracks in the world in three weeks, but I go there hoping to make up for lost ground after our problems last time out in French Formula 4. “We are confident it will be better though and I am looking forward to see how we can perform in the races with an equal car.”
