Luan Mostert’s mum was among a few people convinced that the six-year old would never want to go near a kart following his dramatic last-lap crash at Killarney’s recent national races. But that was never going to happen and Mostert was back in his kart and now he’s looking forward to his first Cadet class win, hopefully at Killarney’s 20 May fourth round regional races.

“Shoo - that crash was scary,” Luan grinned. “But I’ve been putting in the laps and sorting my kart’s set-up with uncle Kito and last years Champion, Joaquin de Oliveira has been helping me with my lines.’ I have finished third and second before, but now I need to win and I am going to be doing my best to do it this weekend — that’s also the best way to forget my crash!”

Young Mostert also has a new sponsor, with Harkers Automotive coming aboard alongside Andre Mostert Vervoer and Donadio Plant Hire. “I am going to do my best to make them all very proud!” Luan concluded.
