Aqil Alibhai’s karting season continues to go from strength to strength following the Ormonde kid’s dominant performance in Saturday’s fourth round Northern Regions karting races at Zwartkops in Pretoria. Alibhai was utterly dominant in the primary school Maxterino 60cc class as he stormed to a dominant triple victory off pole position.

“That's the way I like it,” Aqil beamed after savoring the spoils on top of the Zwartkops podium. “I led every race from lights to flag to reward my dad and the team’s hard work — this is a day I am always going to remember — I am quite delighted! “I also raced in the Mini Max class, but I have a little work to do there to enjoy the success we are enjoying in Maxterino.”

Aqil returns to Zwartkops for the Rok Cup races this weekend before heading to iDube, where he’s ready to take on SA’s best Maxterino drivers in the third round of the SA National Karting Championships. “That will be a great weekend,” Aqil promised. “The best drivers from the Cape and the best drivers from Jozi all racing on a neutral track — I can’t wait!”
