Jason still strong despite a testing weekend

Durbanville, Cape Town kart racer Jason Coetzee endured a tough weekend at the weekend’s MSA Academy races over the Zwartkops Kart Raceway’s Rok Cup weekend aboard his RKT Kosmic. Coetzee struggled for pace early on but his team worked flat out to improve his lot to allow him to leave Pretoria still in a handy championship position.

“We got off to a difficult start, but the weekend wasn’t too bad,” Jason explained. “I did not have a good qualifying and we started race 1 in 7th and I finished 7th too, but my team worked hard and my kart came together as the weekend progressed — I improved to fifth in race 2 and I got onto the podium in the third and fourth races with third each time, so I ended up fourth for the day.

Fortunately my closest championship rivals also struggled over the weekend so I am still in a strong position, but well done to all my competitors — it was very close, but we will come back strong at the next round in Vereeniging.” Jason now focuses on the next round of the SA Rotax Max National championships in KwaZulu Natal. “iDube is another of my favorite tracks — I can't wait! “Also huge thanks to my team and family, as always, for another great weekend at Zwartkops.”
