Jordan keen on more points in France

Northcliff, Johannesburg kart racer Jordan North heads to the second round of the 2017 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Championship at Le Mans keen to improve on his points paying 14th place finish in Belgium last time out. North, who heads to France carrying more weight than all his rivals in spite of being stick thin and unlikely to lose a gram of weight, however aims for the best possible results in spite of his mass disadvantage.

“We had a good run last time in spite of my weight handicap,” Radford High Northcliff Grade 8 scholar Jordan, who has just turned 14 and leads the South African MSA Academy title chase explains. “I am OK in the heats, but we now know that we need to expect a difficult run in the finals when I have to carry more fuel and it’s difficult to get the best set up for that - let’s see if we can make it work.

“I’ve also been training hard to try lose a few grams — its difficult because guys grow so fast at my age — I’m 1.78m tall at just 14 years old — we will have to live with the weight and learn our way around it, but whatever happens, it will once again be an incredible experience.

“Thanks to my dad, to the Academy and to everyone who has helped make this happen - most of all, bring it on!”
