Husqvarna’s Swanepoel set for the Wild One

Hot off earning the honour of finishing the Erzberg Enduro a few weeks back, Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa Off Road Team rider Brett Swanepoel is off to Romania for the other ultimate extreme enduro, when he tackles the Red Bull Romaniacs July 27-31.

Billed as the Wild One by its organizers, the 2017 edition 14th Romaniacs promises to delve even further into the inhospitable Romanian wilderness around Sibiu in search of even more daring obstacles and Swanepoel, who was among only 25 of the 1500-odd riders to go the distance at Erzberg, can’t wait to take on the best dirt riders in the world again at the Romaniacs.

“I am ready for Romaniacs,” Brett confirmed. “I’ve been working hard both on and off my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna, we have been racing and training flat out and now it’s almost time to race — I can’t wait! “Romaniacs will be another learning weekend against the finest hard enduro riders in the world, but we will still be putting out best foot forward in chase of the best results.

“I am supremely thankful to everyone who has contributed to make this incredible dream come true — now its up to me to make everyone, from Fred Fensham of Husqvarna SA, our sponsor Iain Pepper from Pepson Plastics, Andreas Hölzl of Husqvarna Austria and everyone else who has contributed to this adventure, proud.”

Said to be the toughest hard enduro event on earth, the Red Bull Romaniacs attracts riders from over 40 countries to the five day race starting with a mad inner-city prologue in front of thousands of fans, before four off-road race days through the Southern Carpathian Mountains around Sibiu. Famous for its great Romanian hospitality as much as it is for its incredible riding challenges, the 600km epic Romaniacs is considered the world’s ultimate hard enduro.
