Boyd relishes battle of the cousins

Camps Bay kart racer Sebastian Boyd enjoyed a fun weekend’s racing in the new Super Rok karting class up at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway over the weekend. Sebastian was a very close third for the day aboard his Boyd Boss freight Kosmic, behind Cape hometown rivals Jason Coetzee and his cousin Dino Stermin, who scored a single point extra to steal away the second step of the podium.

“We had a brilliant weekend on the Super Rok at Vereeniging,” Sebastian reported. “Laserfiche is an awesome track and to race with this powerful engine was a pleasure — especially considering the dice I had with my cousin Dino! “I qualified second and was running second but I had to retire, but the second race was good - Dino and I started fourth and fifth and we had a good scrap, Dino took the win and I pipped Jason for second on the last lap.

“I started the final in fifth again and made my way up to second but could not catch Jason, so third for the day was cool, but Dino beat me by a point, so I will have to get him back next time!”
