Mostert masters wet, battles in dry

Luan Mostert continued in his quest for best karting results at the sixth round of the WP championship at a dark and cloudy Killarney Kart Track on Saturday, but the 7-year old found the going tougher than usual.

“Our day was like the weather,” Luan admitted. "And that was bad! “I really loved qualifying in the rain though and I was very happy to qualify second on wet tyres. “Then it cleared up so we went back to the slicks and the track was still very cold and I got stuck behind one of the back markers and lost too much time after a little spin, so I finished fourth.

“I came fifth in the second heat and fourth again in the third race and I finished fourth overall for the day. My friend Ethan beat me fair and square and he deserved his spot on the podium alongside Joshua and Reese, but I will have to make up at the next regional in a few weeks time. "Thank you to my mom and dad and nono Franco, Kito and Ricky Perdigao and Luke Herring.

“I am really excited now because we are going to Pretoria for this weekend’s African Open at Zwartkops and that will be my first away race - I really can’t wait!”
