Old rubber Junior win Jason’s highlight

Cape Town kart star Jason Coetzee enjoyed a full but rewarding day at Killarney’s sixth round Western Province championship races on Saturday. Coetzee raced in three classes over nine races in Junior and Senior Max, as well as in the quick new DVS class.

“It was a tough day but not too bad,” Jason admitted. “Junior Max was surprisingly my highest point of the day — I was the only one running on old tyres and we managed to win the last race of the day. “It was also OK that there were only three points between Charl Visser, Seb Boyd and me in third overall so my championship lead is still good.

Senior Max was up and down, but I ended up second for the day and DVS was good, but my engine seized up in the final so we never scored too well there. “I’m now looking forward to the coming weekend — we are going up to Zwartkops to race the African Open on Sunday and we will also do the Northern Regions race there on Saturday to prepare as best we can.

There are World Final seats in the offing on Sunday so I am going to give it my everything to steal one of those and it should be a great weekend — bring it on!”
