Luan delivers best results at Killarney

Luan Mostert may be all of seven years old, but that does not stop the young Capetonian from delivering his all and Saturday’s 7th round Western Cape Karting meet was no exception. Little Mostert delivered his best-ever results over the weekend in the Cadet class, with a splendid second overall following a couple of seconds and a third place in the three races on the day.

“My engine wasn’t as strong so some of the others this weekend and I had to start in the back row in each race because our times were slow,” Luan explained. “So I am even happier with my second place — I really tried so hard this weekend and it paid off — I fought to the front each time and the racing was fantastic.

“I ended up third in race 1 and I had a dice with Ethan Deacon in race 2 and beat him to come second. “In the third race I was proud to do what oupa Franco used to do back in the day racing midgets and I went from back to second in the first lap and I was so happy to finish second to get the cup for second for the day!

“We have school holidays soon, so I can practice every day. “I’m not worried about my pace, I have engine guru Kito Perdigao on my side and we will sort that power out soon! “Special thanks to my dad who works so hard on a race day — I love you and to grandma Jenny for your support too!”
