Coetzee in championship mode

Durbanville kart racing star Jason Coetzee is fully focussed on clinching as many championships as he can in the coming few weeks. Coetzee, who drove to a measured second and third in the Western Cape Junior and Senior Max championship races over the past weekend, was happy to watch his rivals dice while he controlled his Junior championship lead from behind.

“Junior Max was all right on Saturday,” Jason reflected “We had tyre problems, but I still had enough pace for the top three, so was happy to tag along while making sure to keep my championship lead strong. “I just have to finish the next WP race to wrap my Junior Max championship. “Senior Max was wild on Saturday — I ended up a close second overall, so we will have a very interesting last WP race there too.

“My main focus now shifts to the South African Championships in both classes, where I’m in with a shot at both titles at Zwartkops in a few weeks. “Of course schoolwork still comes first, but we are going to do everything we can to get those two Junior and Senior Max titles — it won't be easy, but I’m up for the challenge and ready to rumble!

“Thanks as always to my team — my parents, Henry Bam and RKT and everyone else who makes my racing possible for all the their hard work — let’s do this!”
