World finals beckon for Coetzee

Cape Town karting kid Jason Coetzee is now fully focussed on his double world karting finals duty after closing off his South African National Karting Championship campaign with a couple of championship thirds in Junior and Senior Max. Coetzee will now head to the Rok International Finals in Italy in October and then to represent South Africa at the Rotax Max World Finals in Portugal in November.

“I am looking forward to the World Finals in both classes,” Jason admitted. “We will race in the DVS class I know well in the Rok Finals and I will race in DD2 off the seat I won racing Senior Max at the African Open a few weeks ago at the Max Worlds. “I’m quite excited about stepping up to DD2 and we will be putting in a lot of practice in the gearbox kart.”

Reflecting on the Rotax Max SA Finals over the weekend, Jason was satisfied with his double championship thirds. “Obviously I wanted better, but the weekend never quite went as we had planned and then we broke my best Senior Max engine and I retired and the spare was not on the pace. “Congratulations to my Cape rivals Sebastian Boyd and Luke Herring on their Junior and Senior SA titles and thanks to my parents, my team RKT and the Bam family for all the efforts and support this year — we were in the hunt all the way.”

Jason now faces a frantic few weeks, starting with MSA Academy and DVS action at Vereeniging this coming weekend before his attention shifts to the Rok International DVS Finals October 11-14 and then the Rotax Max DD2 World Finals 4-11 November, all while at the same time studying for his Grade 10 exams.
