Vissers' kart preparations go well in Italy

Cape Town karting family Visser is in Italy preparing for the Rok International Finals at the South Garda circuit, where brothers Charl Michael and Kyle began preparations by competing in the Autumn Cup over the weekend. Charl enjoyed a positive weekend in Junior Rok, qualifying well for the final before climbing up to thirteenth for the day, while Kyle’s impressive progress was halted by an accident in the hotly contested Mini Rok heats.

“We had a very good weekend,” Charl admitted. “This meeting was all about learning and preparing for the big race next week and we progressed very well — we are close enough to the pace to be excited and I was comfortable in a big and very close field and never gave up so quite happy with the race. Bring on the world finals — we are ready!”

Younger brother Kyle loved his first taste of international karting competition, although he would have preferred to have made it through. “I made good progress, but I was involved in a crash and could not make the finals,” Kyle explained. “It’s a pity because I was learning all the time and my pace was getting better, but it was a good opportunity to get used to what is coming up this week.”

“It's very important to stay out of trouble and keep close to the sharp end of the field,” Charl concluded. “That is not always easy to do but we had a clean run this weekend - holding thumbs for more of the same this coming week.”
