Coetzee all set for Karting World Finals

Double Western Cape Junior Max karting champion Jason Coetzee is on his way to represent South Africa at the Rotax Max Karting World Finals in Portimao 4-11 November. Durbanville, Cape teenager Coetzee made it into the South African team by taking the Senior Max seat at the African Open in Pretoria in August, which sees him competing in the super-competitive DD2 gearbox class in Portugal.

“I’m super excited for this experience and to represent South Africa at the Rotax Max World Finals,” Jason admitted. “I am under no illusions — it’s not going to be easy, but I’ve been training very hard on and off the track, I’m ready for it and can't wait — I hope I can make South Africa proud in Portugal. “I have to thank a lot of people for this opportunity — not least my parents, my team RKT and Rotax Max — let’s do this!”

Jason recently competed in the Super Rok Internationals in Italy, but unlike that event, drivers need to qualify to compete in the Rotax Max World Finals, with only SA champions and African Open winners earning the right to represent South Africa at Portimao, where all competitors draw identical karts out of a hat in each class.
