Boyd ready for Rotax Max World Finals
South African Junior Max karting champion, Camps Bay, Cape Town lad Sebastian Boyd is on his way to Portugal to represent South Africa at the Rotax Junior Max World Finals in Portimao 4-11 November. SACS College Grade 8 student Boyd is 100% ready following a stellar drive to fourth in the recent Super Rok International Finals in Italy, before closing of preparations with a dominant win in the Western Cape Junior Max Finals at Killarney two weeks back.
“We have worked very hard to get to this point and now it’s all up to me to do,” Sebastian explained. “I’d say we are ready for what promises to be a great adventure — everyone gets handed an identical Junior Max kart on Saturday and from there we have to set it up, prepare it and be ready for the heats, building up to the Finals a week later. “Objective one is to make it to the finals and objective two is to do that close enough to the front to be in the fight for that world title!
“We had a great run at the Rok Finals and we ended up just off the podium — now we need to do the same in Portugal — only just a little further up the track! “I am immensely proud to be able to represent South Africa this week and I hope to do my very best for SA motorsport, but I also have many people to thank for getting me into the Finals and for the week ahead — from dad to my team and my sponsors Boyd Boss freight. “Now its time to race — let’s do this!”
